TAS Market Profile Trading Retracement Trades

By Bruce Banks

TAS Market Profile Trading Retracement Trades Video:

In this TAS Market Profile Trading video, we go over how to identify, and enter a trade with TAS Tools. We are using the Retracement Trade entry where we focus on a pullback to S&R. Using the TAS Boxes levels, we identify a pullback in the market, and execute a trade with less initial risk.

While this strategy provides entries with a lower risk, they are less common. Therefore we will use this strategy as a secondary to other TAS Tools entry strategies.

The key to this trading strategy:

TAS Boxes
When you identify a trade without TAS Boxes, most technical traders are looking for support and resistance in the market. We understand the key areas outlined by price action trading. TAS Boxes here is used in combination with a classical analysis, to re enforce the trade you were already considering. It can be used as a further factor in your trade, and provide extra confidence. This is because the levels outlined by the TAS Market Profile Boxes are from Market Profile information. We use the area outlined by actual trades to find the value area, and market S&R.

Low initial risk:

Each trader understands how important initial risk is, especially in a volatile market. We wait for a retrenchment to within 20% of the height of the box, the fair value area, to pinpoint low risk trades. When we use TAS Market Profile trading, we can see these key levels where buyers and sellers are in agreement.

TAS Market Profile VEGA Long & Short Trades Video

By Bruce Banks

TAS Market Profile VEGA Highlight Long or Short Bias Trades:

TAS Market Profile VEGA is normally used to identify both long and short bias trades. While this is perfect for traders who do not have a positional bias, other traders who focus on long or short entries have too many signals for their trading. They either have a long directional bias and do not want to trade short in the market, or only want to trade short. With TAS Market Profile VEGA we can change the settings to only show the directional bias that we want to trade.

TAS VEGA indicator long short bias settings:

How does TAS VEGA indicator work?

TAS Market Profile VEGA uses the levels outlined by TAS Boxes to determine long and short bias in the market. It changed the color coding of the bars/candlesticks to reflect this change. With VEGA indicator, Green bars now represent long bias in the market while Red bars indicate short bias in the market. This can simplify how you select the trades that you were making by adding an additional signal to your trades.

VEGA Green signal:

The market has broken above the High value area outlined by TAS Boxes. Once the market closes above this area, the bar will be locked green.

This happens when the TAS Market Profile VEGA indicator closes above the high value area. You can alter this setting by putting “short trades true” to zero.

TAS Market Profile VEGA Red signal:

Short directional bias in trades. The market broke and closed below a Low value area within TAS Boxes. Therefore we aim to only trade short when VEGA indicator is red.

Your position bias when trading with TAS Market Profile VEGA:

Not all traders have a position bias in the market, but when the market is trending in a direction, it can be useful. The idea is to trade with the strength of the market. You do not want to be fighting up stream while trading. As individual traders, we want to follow where the market is moving to capture a few points in the market. This means buying during moves that are on a bigger scale than ourselves, so we want to always be mindful of the direction of the market.

This may mean that we need to have a directional bias towards trades for one day, or even a full month at a time. This way we can guarantee that we are not trying to fight against the current in the market. There will always be opportunities for both bears and bulls in any market at any time, but the crowd mentality of the market is a key aspect to monitor.

TAS VEGA Indicator for scaling out of Multiple lot positions:

TAS VEGA indicator can be used as a multiple lot trading indicator. We trade with multiple lot positions because it allows us to have more freedom in our exit strategies. With these multi lot positions on the market, we can slowly scale out of a position, locking in profit. In addition, TAS VEGA can act as a momentum indicator displaying when the market is losing momentum. It displays the momentum shift in the market by highlighting when there is a return to the value area.

Why trade with Market Profile Indicators?

Market Profile indicators provide you information that is normally hidden when you trade. Market Profile indicators give you the actual price points where trades are being made. This direct level of buying consent therefore shows you where traders are willing to make trades. This works in a two fold way. You can see where big money traders are able to trade, and where there is likely support/resistance in the market.
